CARP E DIEM II
SHOW IN COLLABORATION WITH XINYU CUI
at ARTESC gallery (https://artesc.uk/about)
Carp e diem II is an immersive experiential artwork about a post-human living space. Drawing inspiration from the innovative IKEA showrooms, it invites viewers to immerse themselves in a surreal world where they can become active participants in a captivating visual narrative. Through this immersive experience, participants become active co-creators, injecting their own subjectivity into the larger narrative of post-human living space.
A room stuck in the liminal state of an alternative reality. A flying fish-like object moves under the ceiling reflecting the poorly lit orange walls. Strange plants quietly change their colours. They don't look like the ones you brought from the garden. Your feet touch the artificial grass, and your nose is filled with plastic from the mask you’re wearing. You turn and see your reflection in a mirror, your head hurts, and you don’t know why. You look different. You overhear their conversations. Blub blub blub. There’s no time. You continue watching the TV through the fish’s mouth.
